My friend's broken adapter prompted me to create this custom design. This design serves two main purposes. Firstly, the current standard Garmin part only accommodates one GoPro "ear." Secondly, for the dual-"ear" version, the original Garmin component is notoriously expensive and takes a painfully long time to arrive.
