Garmin BC 30 Camera Tag Mount for 2015 Jetta
thingiverse
I recently acquired a backup camera for my Garmin GPS, as my car's original setup lacked one. The stamped metal mount that came with the camera was not satisfactory, so I designed an alternative attachment system that doesn't require any cutting or drilling. This custom mount attaches to the tag underframe and locks securely in place when the tag is mounted. A channel on the mount aligns perfectly with the underframe, while a mounting hole provides additional stability. The design also features a notch for securing the camera cable. I'm guessing that few people are installing Garmin backup cameras on 2015 Jetta models, but if you're one of them, I hope this solution proves helpful. The channel's dimensions might make it compatible with other VW and VW Group vehicles as well. To ensure proper camera positioning, the mount has a 20-degree downward angle. To add extra durability to my design, I printed the mount using four shells. Although only 25% infill was used, this provides sufficient strength for everyday use. One thing to note is that support material may be necessary when printing the mount with the tag underframe channel facing downwards to avoid any obstructions.
