The Gardner's Wand was created with interchangeable large (20 mm diameter), medium (15 mm diameter) and small (~11 mm diameter) drills. If necessary, insert a small Allen wrench or screwdriver into the hole in the drill body to add or remove the drills to or from the Wand body.

Gardner’s Wand Specifications

Spacing Between Bulbs/Furrows

1 Drill Installed user determined.

2 Drills Installed 200mm (~8 in)

3 Drills Installed 100mm (~4 in)

5 Drills Installed 50mm (~2 in)

Planting Depth

Large Drills 60 mm (~2.4 in)

Medium Drills 60 mm (~2.4 in)

Small Drills up to 60 mm (~2.4 in). The depth of the small drills is variable and may be adjusted to the user's desired depth of up to 60mm by inserting an Allen wrench or small screwdriver in the small hole located in the body of each drill.

Using the Tool as a Small Furrower

The Wand may be used for spacing and making small furrows in the soil by tilting it to one side and dragging it through the soil while applying an appropriate amount of pressure to obtain the desired furrow depth.

Print Parameters

The wand body, wand handle and connecter, and each drill size are printed as separate prints. The drills are screwed into the wand body, and the wand handle is connected to the wand body using the male connector.

The wand was printed using ABS filament.

Drills are printed @ 50% infill.

The handle and wand body are printed @ 25% infill.

The connecter used to attach the handle and body is printed @ 100% infill.

The small drills were printed with a raft and brim to ensure they stayed attached to the plate.

The medium and large drills were printed allowing supports at the location where the threads transition to the drill body. Support blocker was applied around the threads to minimize the possible impact the supports may have on the drill threads. Support blocker was also applied around the drill body hole, which does not require supports.
