Summertime brings delightful weather for savoring delicious shashlik! A simple, yet effective pavilion design can be built by hand, even for inexperienced individuals. Vertical racks are secured with strapping and mauerlats, while floors feature a slight gap between boards to prevent puddles during the autumn-winter months. The roof structure is easy to install, with rafters resting on a ridge beam and reinforced by plywood plates for support. A continuous purlin roof made of planed boards is recommended to avoid attaching rafters from below. Preparing spikes on the ends of the racks and fetch nests in mauerlats beforehand simplifies the construction process. To create spikes, use a circular saw to make incisions 40 mm from the top of the rack and finish with a hacksaw. Nests under the spikes can be easily made by drilling a hole using a 40mm drill bit and cleaning up the excess with a chisel.
