Garden Hose to Pool Hose Coupler for DIY Heater
thingiverse
I've been itching to build a DIY pool heater for years now, but I've only recently mustered up the courage to tackle the project. I've got half a dozen cheap Intek filter/pumps lying around that pump water at an alarming rate of nowhere near enough for a large pool, so I'm planning on using one as the circulator. To do this, I'll connect the pump to a black 100-foot garden hose, which will serve as my solar heater. But first, I needed a way to couple the pump's 1.25-inch hoses to the garden hose without resorting to cutting it and using barbed connectors like everyone else does - no way! I wanted the hose to remain intact, so I set out to find an alternative solution. Unfortunately, I still haven't figured out how to design threads in CAD, so I'm relying on a fantastic pair of couplers designed by codemite that I found online. To use these couplers, you'll need to print one each of the male and female versions.
