Garden Hose End Easy Grip Knob

Garden Hose End Easy Grip Knob

I created this grip/knob attachment for an eight-sided female garden hose end because I was tired of struggling with frosty hands when taking hoses on and off during the winter. I needed a solution that would allow me to easily connect and disconnect hoses even while wearing heavy gloves. The problem was solved, and I found it just as useful in the summer due to its ease of use. Now, all our hoses have these attachments. I believe this invention can be beneficial for individuals with arthritis or limited hand strength, despite requiring some force to install. If you reside in the United States and your hose end resembles the pictures I've included, then this attachment should fit perfectly into the indented area. It's designed to press on and snap securely into place. So far, I've made numerous versions of this attachment using PETG, but I strongly advise using TPU or a similar flexible material instead. This is because it needs a snug fit and can crack if you use a hard plastic. You may be able to make it work with a hard plastic, but you might need to slightly adjust the size in one direction or another. Different hose brands that appear similar can have slightly different dimensions that require adjustments. If you decide to use a flexible material, I recommend using a firm flexible (around 95A Shore hardness). TPU needs to be printed fairly solid between the center opening and the spots between the knobs to prevent it from being too flexible and risking slippage when applying significant torque.
