Experience the top-notch GarageMote kit by LowPowerLab at http://lowpowerlab.com/garagemote/. This kit employs a hall effect sensor to determine if the garage door is open or closed for status updates. For belt drives, merely use Velcro or glue magnets on the drive; however, this method is less efficient on chain drives. Since my Genie uses a chain drive, I utilized 1/4" neodymium cylinder magnets placed on the links to achieve perfect functionality. Nonetheless, I sought an improved way to secure the sensors beyond using duct tape. The solution? A friction fit design that should be tight enough to prevent movement. To ensure a seamless experience, utilize Slic3r to generate support material for the clips since infill doesn't matter at this size and choose solid as the optimal setting.
