Garage door safety sensor light blocker
thingiverse
During peak months, sunlight can impede the IR safety sensor on my garage door at dawn and dusk, thwarting its ability to close. This results in me either having to manually override the mechanism or risk leaving it open upon my return home. A simple, printable cylinder fits snugly onto the sensor, securing it with hot glue given the door's considerable vibrations. The solution is effective. However, sensor sizes may vary; I've included AutoCAD files as a precautionary measure. To adapt the design, simply measure the outer diameter of your sensor and adjust the circle dimensions in Fusion 360 before exporting.
