Garage Door Reinforcement
thingiverse
The skin of my flimsy garage doors featured a few subtle bends at the top to serve as a stabilizing component. Regrettably, the sheet metal proved to be remarkably thin and was unable to withstand being manipulated by an automatic opener for any significant period. In the end, the metal cracked on both my doors directly in the center where the opener arm attaches. I created this part with the intention of preventing further damage from occurring, distributing the load over a larger area, and keeping everything securely fastened for years to come. It's designed specifically for use with M6 bolts and includes recessed areas for M6 nuts. Hopefully, someone with similar doors will find it beneficial. I've included the FreeCAD file, but it primarily demonstrates that I've had no actual CAD experience.
