I'm currently residing in a rented house that has a malfunctioning garage door opener, and the exterior of the garage door lacks a handle for manual operation. The landlord refused to replace the garage door opener, citing it's not specified in the lease agreement. In response, I purchased my own garage door opener, which I plan to take with me when I relocate. To facilitate this process, I need to remove my new opener and reinstall the broken one provided by the landlord. A critical step in the installation involves using a small spring tensioner designed for belt-driven systems. This component comes pre-compressed, but to reuse it effectively, you must re-tighten the spring and adjust the metal keeper to maintain compression. Due to its extreme stiffness, the spring cannot be compressed manually; therefore, I built this tool to provide the necessary grip to compress the spring securely.
