Garage Door GITR-3 Genie Battery Cover
thingiverse
I couldn't find the right garage door opener battery cover for my sister's new house, so I designed one myself. This design works and fits perfectly into the garage door opener. Since the dimensions are very small, I created custom supports because even with "print thin walls" enabled in CURA, there were still missing layers. The locking tab support comes loose with just a few jiggles, while the 2 guide tabs require a couple of snips to remove. Be careful when cutting them because excessive pressure can push the guide tabs up - they're quite thin. You have several design options: one with guide tab supports, another without them, and even an entirely unsupported version. I found it difficult to get good prints using CURA's support system alone, so I made my own custom supports instead. My custom locking tab support layer is 0.4mm thick, which works well with a 0.2mm layer height. To ensure a solid base for the support material, I had to disable the automatic brim feature in CURA and make my own custom support instead of relying on the software's default settings.
