myminifactory
This is a fragment of the last Bucintoro and represents the remnants of Ganymede alongside an Eagle of Jupiter. The Bucintoro was the legendary vessel on which the Doge and Signoria embarked every year to Ascension in the Lido, celebrating the unique rite of the union between Venice and the Sea. Built between 1722 and 1728 under the guidance of naval engineer Michele Stefano Conti, it measured 35 meters in length and 7 meters in width, propelled by 168 rowers. In 1797, the Bucintoro was armed with cannons for defense of the lagoon. It later transformed into a floating prison before being demolished in 1824. The room showcases the grandeur of this boat through engravings, paintings, and wooden decorative fragments from the last Bucintoro by Antonio Corradini (1729) and his workshop. Following the painting "Embarkation on the Bucintoro Dogaressa Morosina Morosini Grimani" by a Venetian painter of the XVII century, it can be seen in a palace on the Grand Canal in St. Luke; Note the painting on the right wall depicting "the theater of the world," a floating pavilion used for parties A bust in painted terracotta, finally, represents Admiral Francesco Duodo by Alessandro Vittoria (1525-1608).
