This sculpture showcases Ganymede accompanied by the eagle of Zeus. Hailing from Italy, it sits atop a Roman funerary altar featuring an inscription in Latin for Ti. Cl. Corinthus. The altar was unearthed near Rome's Porta Capena in 1713 and acquired by General Sir H. J. Montresor around 1750. Experts estimate the sculpture was crafted during the 2nd Century AD.
