Gantry Rod Mount (L) for Wanhao Duplicator 4S
thingiverse
The bearing on the X-Axis pulley broke, causing friction against my left-side gantry bracket. I was under pressure to get the printer back online as soon as possible. While waiting for the warranty replacement, I decided to take it apart so I could simply reassemble everything once the new part arrived. Instead, I spent an hour designing this solution and a few more hours printing it out. I'm not sure if this will work on Makerbots/CTC or even Wanhao D4X since I only have a D4S. Here are the print settings. Print Settings Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 40% Notes: I printed with four walls around and forty percent infill to ensure my part was strong. It may be overkill, but I'd rather not have to print another few months from now. Instructions Additional Parts: LM8UU 8mmX15mmX24mm Linear Bearings (http://amzn.to/1JlQvFj) - two pieces 685ZZ Bearings (http://amzn.to/1P8NZmf) - two pieces Optional: For ABS - Acetone For PLA - Acrylic solvent cement (http://amzn.to/1ZF3WlD) Instructions: To be honest, I got too lazy to remove the linear bearings from the old bracket. I had some of these 24mm ones before, so I made this bracket to match. Once printed, the linear bearings should slide in with some pressure and stay put due to compressive friction. However, I solvent welded the small rings just for safety's sake. For those without experience, Acrylic solvent cement works for PLA just like acetone does for ABS. For the pulley, I removed the broken bearings and used the same 685ZZ bearings that I got for my Y-Axis support mod. They should fit right in place.
