Gantry 5050 LED with Diffuser for Ender 3 V2 (no back plane x-axis v-groove)
thingiverse
There are several LED light holder options and I tried a few of them. None of them appeared to work well with my camera setup. After several tests I determined I needed something closer to the build plate but that also addressed the glare of being so close. I also experimented with several cable chains and for me using a Cat5e cable seemed to provide the strength and wires I needed for the light and I have plenty from past projects. I run it through the existing cable sheath that is part of the Ender 3 V2 stock setup. Additionally, my Ender 3 V2 appears to be different than other iterations in that it does not have a v-groove on the back of the 2020 gantry. So, I also needed something that would mount to the x-axis pulley screws. I used 12v 5050 RGB LED lights because I had them left over from another project. I found that a JST-XH 4 pin connector is the perfect size for attaching to these light strips. Prior to this I was soldering wires to the end of the strip and found it made wire management more difficult than just piercing the strip with the connector. One should be able to print all parts without support. I separated the bracket from the bed to make printing easier. This could make a great parent child project. I am including an acrobat document with detailed instructions on how to get the same results for those that need more guidance. **Required Parts / Tools:** - 24 inches of 4 strand wire 20 - 24 AWG - allen key set (likely came with printer) - electrician's tape - LED strip - power source that matches LED strip requirements - soldering iron or wire crimps - wire stripper **Optional Parts:** - [aluminum tape](https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Ductwork-Temperature-Insulation-Adhesive/dp/B0B6NDFXPN/ref=sr_1_8?crid=34JNGVH4MR7CT&keywords=duct+metal+tape&qid=1679774351&sprefix=duct+metal+tape%2Caps%2C165&sr=8-8) - [fork terminal](https://www.amazon.com/Baomain-Insulated-Terminal-22-18-Gauge/dp/B01B17DL0G/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1EP8X1IKUBDHJ&keywords=forked+terminal+connector&qid=1679775099&s=industrial&sprefix=forkedterminal+connector%2Cindustrial%2C128&sr=1-4) - [JST-XH 4 pin](https://www.amazon.com/2-5-4-Battery-Connector-Female-150mm/dp/B06XXZJH61/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1Z7H6H4292FT9&keywords=jst-xh+4+pin&qid=1679774194&sprefix=jst-xh+4+pin%2Caps%2C189&sr=8-6) matching female and male connectors - [heat shrink tubing](https://www.amazon.com/Ginsco-580-pcs-Assorted-Sleeving/dp/B01MFA3OFA/ref=sxin_17_ac_d_mf_brs?ac_md=2-1-R2luc2Nv-ac_d_mf_brs_brs&content-id=amzn1.sym.1ad31f34-ba12-4dca-be4b-f62f7f5bb10d%3Aamzn1.sym.1ad31f34-ba12-4dca-be4b-f62f7f5bb10d&crid=3T65140BL0CT1&cv_ct_cx=heat+shrink+tubing&keywords=heat+shrink+tubing&pd_rd_i=B01MFA3OFA&pd_rd_r=b47a77c7-ab8c-4680-9296-8f70da5cbfb4&pd_rd_w=Kp7sj&pd_rd_wg=0HkDM&pf_rd_p=1ad31f34-ba12-4dca-be4b-f62f7f5bb10d&pf_rd_r=HDGC1WB76JZY4TDBMF07&qid=1679774985&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=heat+shrink+tubin%2Caps%2C175&sr=1-2-8b2f235a-dddf-4202-bbb9-592393927392) - [voltage regulator power module](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G4GYNL6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) to pull power directly from printer's power supply. - volt meter / ohm meter
