Ganesha is the elephant-headed son of Shiva, one of the three most important deities of the Hindu pantheon, and his consort, the goddess Parvati. He is widely worshiped as the remover of obstacles and the bestower of good fortune, prosperity, and health. He is also the patron of arts and writing in the Hindu culture. This South East Asian inspired sculpt, he is depicted with four arms. In his lower right hand he holds his broken off tusk, a rosary in his upper right hand, a drum in his upper left arm and a bowl of sweets in his lower left arm, with his trunk reaching out to the sweets. An ornamental crown sits on his head, while Ganesha himself sits on a lotus throne.
