Sculptor Ram Sutar's magnificent creation, a monument to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, takes centre stage in Delhi's esteemed museum dedicated to the Mahatma. The sculpture is an imposing presence within its hallowed halls. Renowned sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar was born on 19 February 1925. Throughout his illustrious four-decade career, he has successfully created over fifty awe-inspiring monumental sculptures. For his extraordinary contributions to the realm of art, Sutar has been conferred India's prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2016 and the Padma Shri in 1999. In addition to this notable distinction, Ram Vanji Sutar also had a hand in designing the majestic Statue of Unity - the world's tallest standing structure at an impressive 182 metres (597 feet). The sheer height is even more breathtaking when compared to the Spring Temple Buddha, towering over it by a significant 54 metres.
