Hands hurt after gaming on your 3DS XL? Maybe you're old, hands too big, or the control scheme just doesn't sit right for you... Well, you can experiment with my latest gamepad-style grips! This hybrid style is a combination of PlayStation and GameCube designs that works well for the wide body and weight of the 3DS XL. It takes very little plastic and prints quickly. You'll only need four small screws - I used M3 x 6. The screen angle is perfect for 3D, with no ghosting effects. You can simply relax your hands and hold your 3DS like a modern console controller. Most of the controls are unimpeded, and there are holes for stylus, volume fader, bumpered cartridge slot, IR, DC, accessory mounting holes, and headphone port. It doesn't close completely, but it's very nearly shut, allowing you to go into sleep mode. I've also included an earbud cord organizer to keep things tidy up front. Enjoy and Happy Holidays! Update 12-29-2014: I've added a small hole on the right grip for the wireless on/off toggle switch in v2.3. The old version without the hole, v2.2, is still available. Print the bracket with high infill settings. Print the handles however you like, based on your printer and filament preferences. Remove supports with tweezers or needlenose pliers, then thoroughly clean up any scraps or plastic tabs. Sand sharp areas lightly or use heat to smooth them out. Assemble the grips onto the 3DS XL by sliding pieces together from the back of the base unit. Start with the bracket, then place both handles in their respective positions and slide everything into place. Compress the pieces together, ensuring holes for screws are aligned. Hold the grip tightly and alternate sides to screw in four M3 x 6 screws.
