Gallipoli

Gallipoli

thingiverse

As suggested by Dranoweb, here's a 3D map of Gallipoli. This campaign during World War I took place on the Gallipoli peninsula in modern-day Turkey. Constructed using 3 arcsecond resolution SRTM data from the Space Shuttle, it gives a clear picture of the area. A single map covers the whole area, while four separate maps provide an in-depth look at different parts of the peninsula. These sections are labeled Upper Right (UR), Lower Left (LL) and so on. I will create a 1 arc second file set once the Asia 1 arc second data is released. The source code for creating files at 3 arcsecond resolution can be found on github under the GNU license, where you'll find it referred to as SRTM2STL. If you're planning to print out this map, keep in mind that a smaller size will work better due to warping issues with PLA printing. Large maps of raised relief have shown warping tendencies, especially when printed using this material.
