Galaxy S4 Camera Mount for Qidi Tech/Flashforge Printers
thingiverse
I was sitting on an old Galaxy S4 phone that had been collecting dust, and I decided it was time to give it a new purpose as a camera to monitor my 3D printer. I can now check on my printer from anywhere using my smartphone. I installed an app called Alfred (there are other webcam apps available) on my old Galaxy S4 and my smartphone that I carry with me, and it just works. I'm using this setup on a Qidi Technology 3D printer, but it will probably fit the Flashforge Creator Pro, Duplicator 4S or any of the other replicator clones. However, I haven't tested the fit on anything other than the Qidi. To thread the screw holes, I used a 4-40 tap, although you may not need to pre-tap the holes at all. The bracket has holes to mount it to the case on two sides, so you can have the power cord going to the right or to the left. You'll need the following parts: Case Bottom (Printed) Case Top (Printed) Mounting Bracket (Printed) 4-40 pan head screws, Qty 4 (McMaster 91772A108) 4-40 flat head screws, Qty 2 (McMaster 92210A110) 4-40 tap (Optional?) Galaxy S4 Webcam app (Alfred, AtHome, DroidCam...etc.) 3D printer to put it on I modeled this project using Solidworks 2016. The models are included in the zip file, but I didn't include the Galaxy S4 model - you can download it from grabcad.com. Print Settings: Printer: Qidi Technology Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 50% Notes: I used 50% infill to give the screws some good strength, but it probably works fine at 20%.
