Galaxy Quest communicator

Here's my version of a communication device from Galaxy Quest: I've got two versions available, one that's similar in size to the original prop, and you can print the plasma disk on a laser/ink printer and glue it as a screen. The other version has a 2.5'' mini plasma disk that's really cool because it reacts to sound - so when you talk, it activates. There's even a slot for a small micro switch in the case so when the top lid is closed, it switches off power. As soon as you open the lid, the plasma disk lights up. Check out this short video: https://www.facebook.com/marcin.poblocki/videos/10212388366799694/. The plasma disks are available on eBay from China (I ordered blue but they sent me green by mistake - lol). You can find them here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plasma-Disk-Lighting-Plate-Glass-Plastic-LED-Mini-Sensor-Party-Club-Disco-Decor/223126996554?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3De69d18fc11444a529ad563320a57640e%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D302866727736%26itm%3D223126996554&_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598. All you have to do is take it out of the original case, be careful not to damage anything, and put it inside the second version - simple as that. You'll need to buy 2 x single AAA battery holders to power it all up (see one of the pictures). The only downside is that I had to make it slightly larger than the original prop and unfortunately couldn't find smaller plasma disks. This project's still a work in progress, though - I'm working on a locking mechanism to keep the lid closed and a spring mechanism so the lid opens automatically.
