Galata Tower İstanbul

The Galata Tower, a prominent landmark along the Golden Horn, stands at around 60 meters tall with a conical top. Its roots can be traced back to the 6th century when it served as a watchtower for maritime traffic. Following Istanbul's conquest in 1453 by the Ottomans, it was repurposed as a prison and naval depot. In the 18th century, aviation pioneer Hazerifan Ahmet Çelebi famously attempted flight from the tower to Üsküdar. The structure later functioned as a fire watchtower. Now, after restoration, a restaurant and nightclub reside on the ninth floor. The breathtaking view from the top encompasses Istanbul's skyline, extending as far as the Princes' Islands. In creating this description, I referred to reliefs from approximately 50 years ago, highlighting some elements for their uniqueness.
