Galapagos and its Volcanos
thingiverse
The Galápagos Islands are located above a "hot spot" on Earth's crust, resulting in numerous active volcanoes. Models of these islands and their six volcanoes can be found online, created using NASA's SRTM3 data. A detailed introduction to the geology of Galápagos, including descriptions of each individual volcano, is available at http://www.geo.cornell.edu/geology/Galapagos.html. The models can be printed directly on a build platform. However, missing SRTM3 data points (-32768) appear as holes in the volcano models, suggesting that the satellite recording data passed to the east of the Galápagos. Scaling is simplified due to the equatorial location, with 1 millimeter on the models equating to 230 meters vertically and 1 inch being equivalent to 3.29 miles.
