Gaiwan Tea Set
thingiverse
A functional Gaiwan Tea Set is obtainable by printing it in food-safe material like PLA or other safe polymers. These lidded tea cups come with all the necessary components for brewing a cup of tea in your hand. The design was crafted using Inkscape, while OpenSCAD's rotate_extrude with $fn=100 was used to enhance surface smoothness. STL files were scaled 15-fold and flipped for efficient printing, with cloud.netfabb.com utilized to polish the STL files further. The set was printed on a homemade Rostock (Johann Rocholl's original design) using white PLA, 0.2mm layer heights, 180C temperature, and an 80C heated build platform. Cup and base had 0.05 infill while the lid had 0.5 infill. The lid proved to be the most challenging part to print attractively; a 10mm brim was used for base and lid pieces to secure them to the heated build platform, with Slic3r generating gcode. Green tea can be prepared using these at temperatures that won't melt the PLA.
