Gaggia Shot Mirror and Scale Holder
thingiverse
I've been using a bottomless portafilter on my Gaggia Classic Pro, and wanted a shot mirror to more easily see the extraction. I bought some small cuts of mirrored acrylic from a local plastics store planning to 3d print a small mount, but realized I was going to have to keep removing the mirror whenever flushing to avoid it from getting all wet. Since I already use a scale during extraction, which is the only time I need to use the mirror, and remove the scale at the same times the mirror needs to be removed, I created a base/holder from the scale that also handles the mirror. This uses 1/8" thick acrylic mirror that is snapped in to place and sits flush. The fit is tight so new glue is needed, which is useful as the mirror is cheap and may require replacement. For the scale, this uses a popular/common mirror available on Amazon such as https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E6RE3A0. The base has a small lip so that the scale slides in and is held securely. This reduces clearance overall by about 2mm, but still works with espresso cups. The scale hangs off the front the the machine a bit more, but isn't at risk of falling off. I limited the depth of the holder to only cover the part on the drip tray - this saved a bit of material, but if I were to reprint I would go the full length, as when the scale is on my counter for weight beans, pressing the buttons on the scale causes it to tip a bit. Not a huge functional issue, but easily corrected
