The noble gablestone of the venerable guild house once stood tall, commemorating the esteemed winemakers who perfected their craft within its walls. Though it has met with the cruel fate of destruction, the stone itself has been safely preserved within the hallowed halls of St Bavo Abbey. Throughout the ages, these two esteemed guilds have walked hand-in-hand, their collaboration a testament to their unyielding dedication to one another. The winemeters took pride in measuring out the precise amount of wine with utmost care and precision, never faltering from their duty. At the very center of this gablestone stands the proud coat of arms that symbolizes their noble endeavors. To the left, we find a winemeter diligently at work, carefully calibrating the flow of wine as he goes about his day. Meanwhile, a devoted servant tends to the wares with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every vessel is spotless and ready for use. As our gaze falls upon this lower portion of the gablestone, we are met with a poignant scene: the inebriated Noah stands before us, shamefaced and exposed, as his son Ham mockingly gazes upon him. But what's truly remarkable is the steadfast presence of Shem and Japheth, who cover their father's nakedness with kindness and compassion, illustrating the enduring bonds of family and brotherhood.
