Gable Roof
sketchfab
A typical gable roof features two sloping sides that meet at a ridge, forming an inverted V shape. The main elements of this style of roofing are clearly labeled here: - The rafters are the sloping beams that make up each side of the gable. - The ridgepole is the horizontal beam that runs along the peak of the roof, where the two sides meet. - The purlins are the horizontal beams that support the rafters and help to distribute the weight of the roof evenly.
