g305 to g303 Mod V2
thingiverse
This mod requires some intermediate skill and a healthy dose of confidence to complete. Be prepared to get your hands dirty with three M1.6-5 machine screws, which will likely be supplemented by some M1.6-3 machine screws depending on how you choose to connect the left and right click switches to the main PCB. To get started, you'll need to secure the battery leads to a battery - an AAA lithium rechargeable is highly recommended. A battery mount has been integrated into the design, utilizing 3" velcro straps to hold the battery in place to the top shell, but feel free to experiment with other options. Next up, it's time to mount the left and right switches to the main PCB. This will require some precision and patience, but trust us when we say it'll be worth it. For those who enjoy a good story, here's a brief history of how this mod came to be: When I created my V1 mod, I aimed for a simple lower shell conversion that required nothing more than a screwdriver. However, I was dissatisfied with the quality and decided to make some changes due to my inexperience in 3D modeling. As I continued to refine my design, I encountered another individual (Tailslol) working on a top shell that integrated the left and right mouse buttons into the rear cover, allowing for the removal of the mid section. I reworked the attachment mechanism between the top and lower shells and soon found myself down a rabbit hole of revisions. One of my friends requested a shell without the comfort groove/indent on the right side, which led me to realize that my initial design had resulted in a lopsided and uncentered shell - a problem I had previously "solved" by adding an indent. This was due to my novice design skills at the time. After several sleepless nights fueled by scotch, I decided it was time to start from scratch and redesign the entire thing. And so, this mod was born - not as light as I had hoped, but still a impressive feat of engineering. With a AAA lithium rechargeable battery (Energizer, if you care), this mouse weighs in at 64g. The parts used in its construction weigh an astonishing 37g and feel incredibly sturdy. If you're interested in an ultralight version with all the holes and whatnot, let me know - I might just make it happen. Specifications: Weight: 64g functional, 37g shell Dimensions: 72.5mm wide, 114.8mm long, 34mm tall
