G2s/Pro Layer Fan and Mount

thingiverse

I decided to design my own layer fan after failing to find an adequate one for my heavily modified G2s Pro. I chose to sacrifice the Z-axis probe mounting hole in order to accommodate the heatsink fan location. The fan mount can be attached either on the original side or the opposite side of the effector, but given its placement, it's best suited to one side. The design is optimized for use with mid-temperature and high-temperature plastics such as ABS and PETG. However, nylon may not perform well due to its potential softening at low temperatures. The holes are precision-cut for M4 machine screws, which will easily tap into the plastic due to its malleability. Refer to the accompanying images for a clear understanding of how all components interact and connect together. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: G2s Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 50% (though infill levels can be adjusted) Notes: Printed in PETG at a temperature of 240C, onto a heated bed set to 60C, using Kapton and hairspray for adhesion. The results were outstanding. This design can also be successfully printed with ABS or similar plastics with high glass transition temperatures. A recommended infill percentage of over 50% will ensure optimal structural integrity. In any case, supports are essential for the layer fan's overhanging features, regardless of print settings.
