G Scale Universal Rail Car Chassis
thingiverse
This is a generic universal G scale rail car chassis to which you can attach just about any rail car body on top. Originally designed to be used with the Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer Freight Ready-to-Play Set, Battery-powered Model Train with Remote Thanks to positron96 for the bogie design I used with some modifications. You will need four 11 gauge by 3.5 inch finish nails, with the heads removed, cut and ground to exactly 60mm to use for the axles. Gently tap the nail shanks through the axle spacers and wheels. About 3-4 mm of nail should be exposed on either side of the completed wheel/axle assembly. You may need a dab of glue if the wheels aren't tight. Assemble the bogie using a dab of glue to connect the bottom bogie frame and insert the wheel/axles into the slots. Place the connector pin through the bottom of the bogie, and place the coupler sleeve on top. Insert the pin into the bottom of the chassis. The coupler sleeve should be sandwiched between the bogie and the chassis. Apply a dab of glue to the top of the pin to hold it in place, being sure not to inhibit the free rotation of the bogie or coupler sleeve. For the 350mm model you'll need to press the connecting pin into the slot with a vice. For couplers I recommend you rescale one to fit, or design your own to match what you have already.
