G scale Station architecture
thingiverse
This is a set of parts designed for making a G scale /1/24 scale station canopy, bench, and station lamp. The station canopy is inspired by old British canopies and has a modular design. All the parts have dovetails that allow them to be printed separately before being assembled together with acetone. I assembled mine by printing each part separately and gluing them with acetone. I added a plastic slate roof to my canopy, but it hasn't been painted yet. After reviewing the photo, I realized that perhaps the support pillar should have been slightly recessed into the station more deeply. The station lamp is designed to use 4mm brass tubing and accepts small pea bulbs for lighting purposes. Its height will depend on how long you choose to make the tube itself. Additionally, there's a modern Octagonal lamp available in the 123DX file that you might want to explore as well. You can see people from standard LGB train sets standing near the station in the photo. The "simple station" STL is more for illustrative purposes to help visualize how all the components come together rather than intended for actual printing. When it comes to print settings, I recommend printing with rafts enabled as this typically results in better-quality prints. When making the lamp, consider using transparent ABS; even though it appears more translucent than truly transparent, it gives a unique and captivating effect compared to standard white ABS. Paint your lamp with caution due to its potential sensitivity. For those looking for precise positioning during assembly, you might want to take note of some specifics regarding part orientation when printing these models. The bench itself prints facing downwards from the base perspective which might cause difficulties for alignment later down line if that occurs, it's necessary therefore to set up all relevant parameters so each bit is able fit accurately into next and overall build process run smoothly from there forward onwards continuously always. Here are a few more things that may assist during final stages assembly when attaching various parts with acetone which makes pieces fuse smoothly since applying minimal pressure melts their edges making better connections happen instantly right off then and the ends just slip neatly in once dried fully without additional adhesion needed. Remember, make sure to peel off any supports you used for printing.
