G Scale Railroad Tie
thingiverse
This replacement railroad tie for G Scale trains serves as a solution for brass track that has faded away over 15 years. To preserve the existing 5ft long flex track, I've designed this new tie to be installed where no ties or underlying plastic are present, directly on raw 332 brass rail. To install the tie, follow these steps: 1. Place the tie under the rails. 2. Split the Center section in half along its dividing line. Install one piece by pushing the rectangular tab down into the tie while holding the edge against the inner rail edge. 3. Install the remaining Center piece by placing it against the opposite rail and forcing the tab down into the hole, establishing the gauge (rail spacing). 4. Install the outer Side Caps by sliding the tab into the tie at an angle. Both the Center and Side Cap pieces should be pushed flush with the top of the tie. By design, this tie is meant to work once; attempting to remove either piece will likely result in destruction of the tab.
