FZ-07 Air Intake Filter Panel
thingiverse
Users are empowered to 3D print a modification that upgrades the stock FZ-07 / MT-07 intake system. However, this upgrade requires a permanent alteration to the original airbox by removing its left side panel. A preliminary visual representation of the initial rough cut and the final modified configuration can be seen in the photo titled "modified." This customization allows users to modify their airboxes while still being able to utilize filter panels made from materials like uni Filter panels, which are available for purchase on Amazon or through online distributors. The design incorporates a mechanism that secures the filter panel base mechanically to the airbox using 2-part epoxy. The filter clamp is removable and features plastite screws that sandwich the filter material in place. This design makes certain assumptions: Firstly, without knowing how many injection tools Yamaha has for the airbox, it's impossible to determine the dimensional variance. Secondly, since this surface was never intended for mating, users' airboxes may require a slight adjustment using a Dremel or similar rotary tool. A limited sample size of scans was taken from a single original equipment part.
