FXF11 LED diffuser
thingiverse
LED diffuser for the Edsyn FXF11 fume extractor, aka "the fuminator" in the packaging ;) My FXF11 came with a horrific semi-transparent blue cap for the bottom LED, which makes the built-in illumination *worse* than ambient light, which is a shame. Using the LED without is possible, however some sort of diffuser is still recommended as the built-in LED, despite being strong, has a very narrow beam and poor CRI. I tried several different materials and thicknesses, including clear PETG, white PLA and natural ASA. I recommend going with a simple white material. Clear PETG, even printed thick, doesn't diffuse the light uniformly enough. Natural ASA feels better than white PLA in terms of CRI, but ends up being too yellow when printed thick enough for uniform diffusion. I suspect "natural PLA" would work pretty well due to it's milky nature, but I didn't have any at hand. If you have the chance to try, please let me know in the comments! 2021-11-30 Update: PA6 natural printed 100% solid provided the best results so far. Very good diffusion and balanced color. The extra springiness doesn't hurt either!
