Fuzzy Pen Topper Fidgets

Fidgets are still popular for people with Autism and AHDH. While the fidget spinner craze has died off, I made these two to test Fusion 360. Inspired by the famous Hairy Lion (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2007221) I figured out how to draw the hair in Fusion 360. I made this into a pen / pencil fidget that provides a brushing texture in your hands.

This can be printed in flexible TPU filaments like NinjaFlex. Do not print these in SemiFlex. The fuzzy file can be a torture test for printing in flexible filaments.
I found it works best to have the flow high at 115% to get good bristles.

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printing Tests Print Settings

Printer Brand: LulzBot

Printer: TAZ 5

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2-0.3

Notes:

When finished, use flush cutters or narrow scissors to carefully remove the outer support wall from the bristles.
Keep the removed sections as an abrasive pad for rough sanding, or hard scrubbing

Overview and Background

Printing Fuzzy

Print 0.2 - 0.3 layer height, slow speed (25-30 mm/s) and higher flow rate.

Like Hairy Lion, there is an outer wall that is printed to support the bristles as they are printed. Post printing, use flush trim cutters or narrow scissors to cut the support wall away from the bristles. For the hex, use flush cutters to remove the support wall.

If you want the bristles to droop down, you can use a hair dryer or hot air gun.
