FuzNuz Sungoggles
thingiverse
These are a design for goggles specifically designed for horse and carriage racing. They cover the horse's eye to shield it from mud and sand sprayed up by carriages ahead. The goggles feature UV-resistant lenses, offering protection similar to sunglasses against constant exposure to UV light. A dark-tinted version is available for riding in snowy conditions. This design also keeps wind out of the horse's eye, potentially reducing skittishness when riding in windy weather. As a bonus, it acts as a half-blindfold, blocking the horse's view behind while still allowing them to see everything on either side. For veterinary applications, this design is particularly useful since a tape can be applied over the lens, creating an eye patch that can be slowly peeled away over time. Note: To create these goggles, additional parts are required. These include a laser-cut 1/8-inch thick polycarbonate tinted lens glued in place with epoxy. The cushion material and wax string are also needed to stitch the goggle frame on the inside, as well as straps for attachment. If desired, I can provide a kit containing these items and instructions upon request. A fully assembled set costs $55 due to my existing stock, while the kit to make them yourself is priced around $35.
