Fusion Chess

prusaprinters

This is a set of chess pieces that can fuse together in pairs. It was designed for Fergus Duniho's Fusion Chess (https://www.chessvariants.com/other.dir/fusion.html) but can be used for other games too. The King, the Rook, the Bishop and the Knight can all be matched in pairs by setting them perpendicularly. This way you can combine a Rook with a Knight to obtain what is usually called a Marshall (https://www.chessvariants.com/piececlopedia.dir/rook-knight.html), or merge a Bishop and a Knight to form a Paladin (https://www.chessvariants.com/piececlopedia.dir/bishop-knight.html). There is no Queen in the set, as this piece is a fusion of a Rook and a Bishop. Pawns cannot fuse.

In Fusion Chess you can move a piece on a square occupied by another piece of yours (neither of them being a Pawn). They both merge and can now move and capture together. Fission is allowed as well. For the other rules of this chess variant, refer to the link above.

For a full set following number of pieces from each color are needed:

Bishop.stl - 3
King.stl - 1
Knight.stl - 2
Pawn.stl - 8
Rook.stl - 3
Foot.stl - 34

The game can be played on a normal chess board. The .step files are only for reference, they contain the assemblies

Print instructions

I printed them with Black and Natural ASA, 0.2 mm layer height, 15% infill.
