Funny Looking Bottles #1

Bottles stand out as vessels of choice for artisans in pottery, designed to hold and dispense liquids. Although glass and plastic are increasingly preferred for their clarity and recyclability, ceramic bottles remain a popular option in many scenarios. This is evident in traditional Japanese tokkuri or sake bottles that can be easily warmed up along with their contents. In a playful reinterpretation of the bottle's shape, Dr Iskandar retains its elongated neck and small mouth for precise liquid control, yet moves away from symmetrical bodies to create eccentric forms reminiscent of dancing figures or interactive sculptures. The irregularly shaped bodies are further enhanced by 'fluting,' where grooves are carefully etched into the clay surface using a precision tool. To add an extra layer of aesthetic appeal, each neck is wrapped with thin bamboo strips and secured with a wooden tag bearing Dr Iskandar's distinctive oval kanji seal.
