Funnel on pipe design
myminifactory
Hello, My design is based on certain assumptions, including that your brackets are made from a material as tough as ABS, separated by 20 to 24 inches, with each spool weighing about 1 kilogram and made of hard plastic. The outermost diameter of the spool is approximately 8 inches and is smooth enough to roll. I have reviewed your bracket design and conducted an FEA analysis based on the assumption that it's made from ABS. It appears to be safe in terms of stress, but could potentially fail due to deflection or displacement over time (refer to the attached bracket analysis screenshot). I do not recommend adding reinforcement, but rather replacing those brackets entirely for safety purposes. To install them, use 1/4 inch bolts. I have designed a new bracket, and my current 3D print has an 8mm wall thickness and 20% infill, made of PLA. It works great for me, but I recommend using ABS with 100% infill instead. I have also used a 1 inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe, which I suggest replacing with a 1 inch Schedule 40 steel pipe. I have attached pictures of the screws and bolts I've used, as well as the design for the bracket, which has a hole in the front to hold the front pipe in place. This ensures that it won't roll (the front pipe is simply there to hold the funnel). The other two pipes should be made of steel. I have also created a sample funnel, which I've colored blue and designed to fit on your machine (like the Monoprice). I've attached pictures of it for reference. The idea behind this design is simple: you'll need to create a funnel that fits on your machine (similar to the blue color funnel), allowing filament to be fed in at any angle from the spool. Place the spool funnel (which I've colored white) and fix them onto the front pipe with a screw (refer to the attached picture). Insert the filament into the slot of the spool funnel, load it onto your machine, and you're good to go! I tried uploading an unslotted spool funnel design initially, but it showed some errors due to its water-tight nature. The slotted funnel design makes it easier to remove excess filament while in use. The funnel's curved diameter is between 3 inches and 4 inches, assuming that all material filaments can flex up to a 3 inch diameter without breaking. I hope you like the design!
