Funnel Adapter

Funnel Adapter

We found that an Arizona Tea jug makes a very good container for storing used cooking oil. However, it takes 3 hands to pour and hold the funnel. Here is a solution.

This adapter/holder screws onto the jug and has a short tube to insert the funnel.

I designed this in Fusion 360 (design included). It is customizable by editing parameters.

My biggest challenge was discovering the thread size to fit the container (in place of the cap). It took some measuring and several test prints to get it correct.

My first design has the funnel part midway into the screw on part. I've included it, but it requires a lot of support.

My second design is much easier to print and has threads to fit an Arizona Tea jug (I think other products also use this jug).

We also use the original Canola Oil bottle, so I designed another with threads to fit.

You may use any funnel that fits the jug. Here are some things to consider and measure:

decide and measure how deep you want the funnel to be inside the jug (I think 30-45mm is a good range) - if you don't want the adapter to get dirty, keep it shorter then the funnel, but long enough to adequately hold the funnel upright

measure the outside diameter of the funnel at the widest/upper end - make sure it is less than the opening of the jug.

measure the outside diameter of the funnel and the small end (actually where the adapter will end)
