This fascinating funerary stele showcases a relief featuring a deceased man. The deceased is portrayed as a middle-aged bearded gentleman seated with his legs crossed and resting on a sturdy footstool, grasping a trusty crutch firmly in his left hand. In the foreground, a smaller figure turns towards him, extending their right hand for a final farewell gesture. This type of stele cleverly emulates Attic prototypes, paying homage to its ancient inspirations. The stele's design takes the form of a majestic temple, while an inscription on the upper part proudly declares the name and hometown of the deceased: "Ally, son of Arkesilaos from Andros". This remarkable artifact was unearthed in Soloi, offering a glimpse into the lives and traditions of ancient civilizations.
