The ancient stele has been a part of the Bassani house in Padua since 1500, possibly even longer. A chariot speeds by, its horses galloping swiftly as they thunder down the track. Above the vehicle, two figures are visible: the charioteer, urging his team on with a whip, and a mysterious woman veiled from view. Beneath the horses' hooves lies a circular shield, while remnants of a Venetian inscription cling to the top edge. The Latin text inscribed along the bottom was probably added much later.
