Grave Relief of Ampharete Holding Grandchild, circa 430-420 BC. Kerameikos Archaeological Museum, Athens. The deceased woman's name is inscribed on the horizontal cornice. On the epistyle lies an epitaph: "I hold here my daughter's cherished child, which I cradled in my arms when we were living and basked in sunlight, now I hold it still, dead."
