Funerary stele depicting toiletries
thingiverse
Funerary stele showcasing daily essentials, 175 CE, Acmonia (Phrygia, Turkey), carved from gleaming marble. Musée du Cinquantenaire proudly displays this treasure in Brussels, Belgium. CapturingReality brought this ancient relic to life. On the upper left panel of the double door, a keyhole stands out prominently. The door jambs are adorned with stylized ivy sprouting from a vase, symbolizing eternal Dionysian life. A comb, mirror, and cabinet – possibly a diptychon or wax tablet – take center stage. Between the hanger and lintel lie personal items used by the mother of the deceased individual honored in this funerary stele. Her name is mentioned before her husband's in the epitaph above the lintel: "Euelpistos created this tomb for his mother and father."
