Funerary statue of a woman

myminifactory

A statue of a woman crafted from Pentelic marble lies in Stadiou Street, Athens, near an ancient cemetery of great importance. The sculpture portrays a maidservant seated on a low platform with legs crossed, her right hand cradling her head. It is likely that the figure stood at the left edge of a prominent grave enclosure, its face turned towards a central monument. A second maidservant will have adorned the right edge of the enclosure, which stood near an ancient street. This statue is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit project initiated by MyMiniFactory, which aims to create a digital repository of fully 3D printable sculptures and artworks from around the world, accessible for free to the public. Scan The World is an open-source community effort; if you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
