The statue was unearthed in the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos, Athens. The once-complete Scythian warrior now lies headless, posed in a kneeling position on one leg. His traditional barbarian attire is open at the front, with tight-fitting trousers that reflect his nomadic heritage. In his lowered left hand, he would have grasped a bow, while his right hand reaches out to touch the gorytos, a quiver containing arrows and bow, which was a standard equipment for Scythian archers employed by the Athenians.
