Historic Funerary Relief Unveiled in 1st-2nd Century Palmyra, Limestone Masterpiece Found in Brussels Museum. A stunning funerary relief from ancient Palmyra has been unearthed and is now on display at the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium. This magnificent limestone artifact dates back to the 1st-2nd century AD. The poignant plaque depicts a bearded man who was likely a prominent figure in his community. He is identified by an inscription that reads: "Zabd'atch, son of Yamlikou, (son of) Nes?. Alas!" Palmyra, also known as the caravan city of Queen Zenobia, was once a thriving metropolis nestled in the desert sands of Syria. This funerary relief serves as a poignant reminder of the rich history and culture that once thrived there.
