This relief showcases a gallant knight riding forward, his patera held high with his right hand as he approaches an altar. Behind him stands a loyal servant clad in a short tunic and a hooded chlamys, serving as a faithful companion. In the background, a serpent wraps itself around the base of a sturdy tree trunk, its presence seemingly tied to the mysterious purpose of the altar. Despite the unclear intention behind this sacred structure, the composition echoes familiar motifs found in funerary and votive reliefs that flourished across Microasian and Nesiotic regions from the dawn of the Hellenistic era.
