Funerary monuments crafted from Pentelic marble are discovered in the district of Agios Ioannis Rendis, located northeast of Piraeus. A mature man is depicted on the imposing monument's left slab, holding his staff and turning to the right where other relief figures originally stood. His name, Alexos son of Stratokles of Sounion, is inscribed on the epistyle along with those of his relatives Philoumene, daughter of Theoxenos of Marathon, Phanostrate, and his son Stratokles. The monument stands out for its exceptional rendering of Alexos' facial features and its distinctive crowning.
