This singular burial ground mosque lies at the very core of a-Baleed. Excavated in 1996-1997, this complex features a quintessential mosque characteristic of its area, with six colossal stone pillars that would have borne up a flat roof. Observe the expansive ablution facility on the east side, boasting two substantial wells lined with stone and numerous wash basins crafted from plaster. Beneath the ablution area, notice the presence of a succession of stone walls, attributed to a Late Iron Age era spanning 500-700 AD. To the north and west of the mosque, a vast formal burial ground is discernible, bounded by a low wall that encompasses 1.5 hectares and contains over 300 interments. The numerous geometric patterns and inscriptions adorning headstones and some footstones are quintessentially medieval in design and date back to the period between 1200-1350 AD.
